Greetings!
Welcome to my website for prospective clients and employers.
I am an experienced trial attorney, successful business owner, former elected Mayor and United States Army veteran that possesses a unique and diverse skill set in law, government relations and management.
Admitted to the bar in Connecticut, the District of Columbia and Florida, in 1994 I started a law practice from the ground up. In doing so I learned how to implement successful marketing strategies and the importance of customer service. I am proud of the annual double digit revenue growth and new client growth that my firm enjoyed.
As an attorney I have successfully represented individuals, small businesses, large corporations, municipalities and have had contracts with the State of Connecticut to provide legal services on its behalf. I am an experienced trial attorney with 15 first chair trials to completion.
Simply put, I am a fierce advocate that knows how to obtain results for his clients.
In 2005, at age 40, I took a four year hiatus from practicing law when I was elected Mayor of Stratford, Connecticut.
Stratford is Connecticut’s 17th largest municipality with 50,000 citizens, 2,000 businesses and an infrastructure that includes a railroad station and an airport. I was the first Mayor in the Town’s then 366 year history.
As Mayor, I was the executive responsible for management of a $177 million budget and all day-to-day operations.
As Chief Executive of the town I was responsible for government relations with federal, state and local officials, human resources, labor relations and employee matters.
I was a key stakeholder in labor contract negotiations and in the development of bargaining strategy that affected approximately 500 employees and, of course, Stratford’s taxpayers.
I regularly participated in briefings, strategy sessions and decision making with our legal team on a myriad of legal matters including liability cases, workers compensation, contract negotiations and complex litigation.
I also successfully negotiated pro-management and pro-taxpayer collective bargaining agreements with four bargaining units whose contracts had expired, including zero percent increases in each contract.
In my capacity as Chief Executive I personally recruited, hired and supervised a management team including nine cabinet level department heads.
